This month is National Weddings Month, if you are getting married this year or even next year or know someone who is getting married, this blog post is dedicated to future brides (and grooms). You may have already seen some of my social media posts dedicated to this.
Getting ready for the big day can be exciting but also stressful. There are so many considerations and things to organise, it can become overwhelming.
I thought I would write a quick blog post on how Restore Harmony can help you with the build-up to the big day.
All things skincare
Most people would love glowing flawless skin for their big day, but not many realise there is no overnight magic wand for this. Good skin takes time, dedication and a good home care routine using the best ingredients for your skin such as hyaluronic acid (pulls moisture to the skin), retinol (increases cell production, smooths fine lines and helps with pigmentation), glycolic acid (resurfaces the skin) and Vit C (brightens the skin).
With a detailed consultation, we can work out what results you would like to see for your big day and put a plan of action together to achieve these results. If you have problem skin (for example breakout prone) fine lines, hyperpigmentation etc, you will need to start looking after your skin, around 6-12 months before the wedding in order to get into a good routine; and have regular facials to target these concerns.
These skin concerns usually need a few sessions of intense facials, micro needling and suitable home care to see results. We may even need to work alongside a dermatologist depending on the severity of the skin.
If you currently have no skin concerns but would like the wedding glow you can wait until nearer the time; and opt for facials such as the ultra bright or bespoke facial, which can be tailored specifically for your skin.
Stress Relief
As I mentioned earlier wedding planning can be stressful and you can de-stress with a relaxing massage. According to the BBC (2021) massage therapy is proven to boost the immune system. Massage is also effective in reducing the stress hormone “cortisol” and increasing the hormones “serotonin’ and ‘dopamine’. Serotonin helps to calm you and make you feel less anxious. Dopamine can help you feel motivated and more positive.
Cortisol is also a collagen killer, meaning high levels of cortisol overtime will decrease the collagen in your skin. Stress is also associated with many other symptoms such as headaches, trouble sleeping, and tension in the muscles.
A massage is great for taking some time to relax, destress and ease the mind. Aromatherapy massage is an excellent choice as oils can be pre-blended for your specific concerns. The heat from hot stones have soothing properties, aswell as releasing tension and smoothing out knots. The hot stones also hold energy removing blockages and dissolving stress. Alternatively, a heated a body wrap, is that bit more of an indulgence for the ultimate relaxation.
We can also put together a massage package for your needs, or you can share your massage with your partner or a family member, by having a massage for two.
Body Treatments
Prepping the body is just as important as prepping the face. Rock up to your wedding with smooth skin, feeling more confident about your areas of concern.
A full body scrub is perfect for removing dead skin cells and build up, making way for fresh smooth skin. A clean canvas for fake tanning or a rich moisturiser for glowing skin.
Detox treatments are a great way to improve the skin and problem areas. You can target cellulite and improve the overall texture of skin. These treatments can increase metabolism, reinforce circulation and enhance detoxification.
Choose from a legs, bums and tums treatment, body wraps and purifying back treatment if you have breakouts on your back.
My new lymphatic drainage massage is excellent for stimulating the lymphatic system, draining toxins and waste. It is a very gentle massage which focuses on the skin and lymph vessels rather than the muscles.
If you will be having surgery for your wedding, then this massage is excellent for post op swelling. This technique is also effective for many other conditions including bloating, cellulite, headaches, fibromyalgia and so much more.
Finally focus on getting your hands and feet smooth and fresh. My Footlogix pedicure is the go-to for all feet concerns. Footlogix is the only foot care line in world which uses scientific formulations that enable the active ingredients to penetrate deeper into the layer of skin. A fab choice for hard skin removal.
Hand treatments can help to nourish the skin giving a smoother and softer appearance. If your job requires a lot of hand washing/ hand gels and go through wear and tear, it is important to put moisture back into the hands. A soothing mask will hydrate the hands, making them look perfect in those close-up pictures of the rings.
